This was a fun music video to make. It was shot in Portland and out at the Oregon coast with some stops in between for b-roll footage.
Some moms are cool and some moms aren't. It is often that we hear about the loving and gentle icon of motherhood, where mom never does you wrong and is always there to wipe your tears. Some moms are like that, and some moms aren't. This song explores the shadow side of motherhood, the taboos not spoken about surrounding a mother that attacks or abandons her own child. How do we survive this kind of loneliness? This song finds compassion underneath the hurt. Loving self and forgiving the past. Maybe that's how.
Art therapy to the rescue!
Thank goodness for music and the ability to easily record it these days. Music is a release for both the maker and the listener when it's done right!
This song was written and performed by Fern and Chris in one of our songwriting trances. Our next music video features the whole band.

“Some mamas hold you like a china doll. Some mamas lean on you like a brick wall Some mamas hear you every time you call Some mamas leave you when the night falls.”
This video touches on a heavy subject. Some viewers have mentioned that it can act as a 'trigger' for those who have suffered from child abuse. They also enjoyed and appreciated it. We hope you do too.
